I agree, many "conservative" Rush wannabes, aren't as good. A big part of the problem is the fact that MSM doesn't bite the hands that feed it; thus, firms and people benefiting financially from political favors, use the extra money to advertise so those outlets receiving the ad revenue, to prevent the MSM from publishing information those firms and people don't want published. E.G., Big Pharma, which advertises products, that you can't even buy without a prescription (something the EU prohibits). AFAIK, Rush may have had the ability to pick and choose who his advertisers were; thus, excluding potential political class censor wannabes influencing his words.

Rush was also special, in his explanations of what the Democrats were doing - he did it better than anyone else IMHO.

Another reason there's unrestrained "conservative" pundits, is because TPTB want some fake conservatives who make conservatives look bad (e.g. alleged "conservatives" Joe Scarborough, or Thomas Friedman who's been called conservative but generally claims to be a centrist - for the NYT he is considered the semi-conservative IMHO)

Good stuff, my friend. “Just trying to understand.” Option 1 most obvious.
