The Left's Postmortem Coverup Of the Biden Balloon Scandal
The left may be mocking our ‘overreaction’ to a balloon, but China was mocking America by sending the balloon.
If Democrats excel at anything, it’s their childlike ability to convince themselves that anything they want to believe is true, no matter how devoid that fantasy is of facts and reality. Their latest foray into fantasy land is their postmortem rationalization of the latest Biden Balloon scandal.
On Wednesday, a mysterious high altitude balloon was spotted soaring over Montana. The reports and subsequent images captured by residents of Billings quickly went viral and the Biden Administration had no choice but to address it.
But the Biden administration didn’t acknowledge the balloon’s existence until Thursday, a day later.
On Thursday the press reported that the government was tracking the balloon, that Joe Biden had been briefed and asked the military to provide ‘options,’ and that Biden had been advised not to take “kinetic action” because the debris could harm civilians on the ground.
The Governor of Montana, Greg Gianforte, told Tucker Carlson on Friday that he wasn’t briefed about the Chinese spy balloon until it was already hundreds of miles into the state.
The Biden administration unleashed its normalization strategy on Friday. “We are seeing reports of a balloon transiting Latin America,” said one Pentagon spokesman. Yet even while a defense official claimed spy balloons have previously passed over the United States, the same official admitted that it was unusual because it loitered overhead “for an extended period of time.”
The Administration then struggled to get its story straight. White House Propagandist Karine Jean-Pierre admitted on Friday — two days after the spy balloon was spotted soaring over Montana — that she (and Joe) had been briefed on Tuesday about the balloon’s flight over the United States.
But Biden said on Saturday, after the balloon was finally shot down off the Carolina Coast, that he had been briefed about the balloon on Wednesday.
And yet a subsequent report from Bloomberg revealed that the President had been made aware of the spy balloon on January 28th, when it first entered U.S. airspace and five days before the Administration acknowledged its existence.
Other recent reports claim military officials withheld the information from the President for three days.
U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken also announced on Friday that he postponed a scheduled diplomatic trip to China, which was called off just hours before Binken was scheduled to depart for Beijing; a trip that hadn’t even been announced in the first place.
The lies are already stacking up. Biden learned about the balloon on January 28th but said he was briefed about it on February 1st? Jean-Pierre said she was briefed about it on January 31st?
The Communist Chinese sympathizer and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Mark Milley — who famously committed treason in October of 2020 when he told his Chinese counterpart that he would give the Chinese advance notice of any U.S. attack against China — said he told Biden on Tuesday (not Wednesday) of the Chinese balloon, which is consistent with Jean-Pierre’s claim.
The balloon flew over the Aleutian Islands in Alaska and then through Canada before eventually soaring over Montana, Missouri, and eventually the Carolinas. It’s an absolute farce and lie that the the military couldn’t shoot down the spy balloon until it completed its seven day journey and sailed over the coast of the Carolinas.
Contrary to popular belief held by the overpopulation zealots, less than 6% of the United States is developed. In other words, people don’t inhabit roughly 94% of the land in the U.S. The balloon couldn’t have been safely shot down over the Aleutian Islands and the Pacific Ocean and then over vast swaths of barren land in Montana or other states?
So why did the administration wait until the spy balloon finished its passage over the United States — from coast to coast — to finally shoot it down? Why did Blinken wait until the last minute to dramatically announce his previously unannounced diplomatic trip to Beijing? When the very justification Blinken used to postpone his trip — sending a spy balloon over the U.S. — had first occurred nearly a week before, as it soared over the Aleutian Islands.
Now that the Spy balloon has been shot down, the Biden administration and media are in coverup mode, trying to cobble together countless inaccuracies and half truths like Frankenstein’s monster to retroactively paint a wholly untrue portrait of a responsible administration.
“When President Joe Biden learned of a likely Chinese spy balloon was drifting through the stratosphere 60,000 feet above Montana, his first inclination was to take it down,” begins a recent CNN article — one of many postmortem coverups.
“By then, however,” the article continues, “it was both too early and too late. After flying over swaths of sparsely populated land, it was now projected to keep drifting over American cities and towns. The debris from the balloon could endanger lives on the ground, his top military brass told him.” The CNN article is titled: ’Inside Biden’s decision to ‘take care of’ the Chinese spy balloon that triggered a diplomatic crisis.’
CNN goes on to report that Biden’s own officials waited 3 days to inform the President. Maybe they did.
According to CNN, military officials thought little of the intrusion as it made its way over Alaska, into Canada, and then back towards the United States. One of the primary defenses of Biden made by his loyalists is that Chinese spy balloons “slipping into the skies above the United States” is a common occurrence.
Even if true, this wasn’t one of those common occurrences. The Biden cult is mocking those demanding answers by asserting that this happened under Trump and Trump didn’t shoot them down. Really? Was the Trump-hating media covering up those instances to protect Trump? I don’t recall any photos taken by Montanans of Chinese spy balloons during the Trump administration, either.
Biden’s own defense official even pointed out the unusual nature of this specific occurrence, saying it loitered overhead “for an extended period of time.” This was brazen and the administration waited seven days to shoot it down.
The Biden Administration kept this quiet until civilians in Montana spotted the balloon on Wednesday. According to Bloomberg, they concealed its presence because they feared it would scuttle Blinken’s scheduled trip to Beijing and also provide Republicans fodder ahead of the 2024 presidential election.
This is damning, whether true or not, but I suspect it isn’t true. So they hoped to conceal the unprecedented molestation of our sovereign airspace by an enemy spy balloon — monitoring our nuclear sites — so that Blinken could go to China? If so, it demonstrates that the administration didn’t care that China had sent the balloon. Their only concern was that the American people would be upset about it and Blinken might have to cancel his vacation.
If they were concerned that it might make Joe look weak ahead of the 2024 presidential election and that it might prop up those ‘conspiracy theories’ that Joe is a Chinese foreign agent, their strategy was to conceal the balloon’s presence, rather than announce it early, shoot it down, and prove that Joe was tough on China?
Now, we’re supposed to celebrate the fact that Biden shot down the balloon? After it completed its 7 day journey across the United States and after he tried to hide it from the American people? Give me a break.
Now Bloomberg reports with a headline that “Biden waited for the perfect time before downing Chinese Balloon.” The propagandists are doing what the always do: scrambling to spin another Biden failure into some brilliant success.
“The delay gave US opportunity to study device and salvage payload,” the reliable Biden propagandist writes. This is the postmortem creation of some leftwing fantasy. Biden told them to shoot it down on Wednesday as soon as it was safe — so the story goes. He wanted it destroyed. Now suddenly it was some intentional delay — a brilliant and intentional strategy — to study it. But I thought it was flying too high to be shot down? Who was up there studying it? What did they learn that they didn’t know a week ago? This is a coverup, created post mortem to justify the unjustifiable.
Bloomberg also reports: “President also gains leverage after Beijing admitted mistake.” The same propagandist rag — Bloomberg — previously reported that the administration hoped to conceal the Chinese spy balloon so that Blinken could go to Beijing. Now, suddenly Biden has leverage over Beijing because the very thing Biden didn’t want to happen — Americans learning about it — has occurred?
The Biden Administration just wants to sweep this latest incident under the rug, like all the other scandals. We can expect him to spin this in his upcoming SOTU speech as evidence of Biden’s tough stance against the Chinese. But we all know he’s not tough on China, he’s owned by China — bought and paid for.
This latest incident wasn’t normal, it wasn’t handled competently, and it never would have happened under Trump. The left may be mocking our ‘overreaction’ to a balloon, but China was mocking America by sending the balloon.
