Op-Ed: The Unholy Alliance Between the Democratic Party and Higher Level Education
Biden’s federal student loan debt forgiveness isn’t about relieving the indebted college graduate. It’s about compelling the American tax payer to subsidize the production of future Democrat voters.

On Wednesday Joe Biden announced he would cancel $10,000 in federal student loan debt for borrowers earning under $125,000 per year or $250,000 for married couples or heads of households.
Many have observed that this is nothing more than a desperate attempt to buy votes ahead of the midterm elections. That’s certainly true.
It’s also been observed that this is unfair. What about all the college graduates, who already paid off their federal student loans? These responsible college graduates must feel like legal immigrants to America, who adhere to the rules, only to watch illegal immigrants rewarded for their defiance of the rules.
These responsible college graduates, like responsible legal immigrants, have been snubbed. The upshot is the encouragement of irresponsibility and the discouragement of responsibility.
The debt forgiveness will further sow discord in a Nation already plagued by it. The American tax payer will now be burdened with $500 billion dollars of others’ debt ‘forgiven’ by Biden; most of whom are already struggling to make ends meet in Biden’s economy — defined by rampant inflation and soaring gas and energy costs.
Ironically, the long term damage of Biden’s ‘debt relief’ will eclipse any short term benefit. Americans will most certainly pay more than $10,000 over the next few years due to the taxes and inflation that will follow.
While all of these observations are valid, the most important observation, which eclipses them all, is the fact that Biden doesn’t have the Constitutional authority to cancel federal student loan debt. And yet, he’s done just that.
Are courts and Republicans going to reverse this unconstitutional act in the future by ‘unforgiving’ the debt and demanding that previously ‘forgiven’ college graduates pay back the $10,000 Biden ‘cancelled?’ The damage has already been done.
And now that presently indebted college graduates have been forgiven, won’t future college students expect their loans to be forgiven as well? And Universities emboldened to raise tuition?
Biden and the Democrats haven’t addressed the root cause of sky rocketing tuition costs at American colleges, nor do they intend to.
Tuition costs are outrageous because the federal government subsidizes them. Colleges can charge exorbitant tuition because the federal government gives students the loans needed to pay for it. And now, the American tax payer is subsidizing these tuition costs. Worse, the American tax payer is subsidizing the Democratic Party.
American universities are Democratic Party indoctrination facilities, churning out Democrat voters. University tuition and the six figure salaries of their leftist activist professors and administrators have been paid largely by federal student loans. Now, the American tax payer is paying the tuition and salaries.
It’s a racket. In my most recent podcast, I referred to this as ‘the Democratic Party’s unholy alliance with higher education.’ The Democrats encourage and even demand that Americans attend these Universities, from which students graduate with a degree in ‘Democratic Party Allegiance’ and ‘Anti-American Studies.’
These Democrat training grounds, disguised as universities, are rewarded for their indoctrination with tens of millions of dollars per annum in federal loans; loans that will now be paid by the American taxpayer.
Biden’s federal student loan debt forgiveness isn’t about relieving the indebted college graduate. It’s about compelling the American tax payer to subsidize the production of future Democrat voters from Democrat run Universities.
