Many watched with outrage as the peaceful protest outside our Capitol building descended into a scene of anarchy and chaos. Our jaws dropped as apparent Trump supporters fought their way through barriers and police. Our hearts raced as the mob breached the doors and windows. Our eyes widened as the mob stormed into the halls and offices of our Congress and the terrified people’s representatives were rushed into some secretive and secure bunker, out of harm’s way. It was a shocking display to be sure, but also a rather apropos representation of America in 2021.
I know I’m supposed to feel appalled and outraged. But I don’t. I know it’s popular and compulsory to unequivocally condemn the rioters. But I can’t. While I don’t condone what they did, and I acknowledge their short lived rebellion was stupid, unseemly, unpleasant, and sadly tragic for some, I can’t help but view the incident as a poignant and harrowing omen of America’s impending calamity, an iconic moment in our nation’s history with an uncanny resemblance to another event in our past, which took place on December 16, 1773 at Griffin’s Wharf in Boston, Massachusetts.
Like many God fearing Americans today, colonial patriots and Revolutionaries in 1773 similarly condemned the actions of a mob of colonists who, disguised as Native Americans, spent three hours dumping 342 chests of tea imported by the British East India Company into the harbor of Boston, Massachusetts. George Washington and Benjamin Franklin were among those who condemned the Boston Tea Party—on the moral ground that vandalism was wrong and from a belief that the actions of the mob would be counterproductive; damaging their political movement and casting the Revolution in an unfavorable light.
But, while Washington and Franklin condemned the actions of the mob, they did not abandon the Revolution. We too can condemn the violence displayed on January 6th without abandoning our Revolution. In fact, like Washington and Franklin, we must not abandon our Revolution. More than ever we must unite and stay united. America must be protected and preserved at all costs. We the people are her last and only defense.
The shocking and objectionable behavior of the mob on January 6th damns neither President Trump nor his 75 million plus supporters. Nor does it erase the transgressions of the anti-American Democrat Party. They still committed treason by engaging in a coup to oust President Trump starting in 2016. They still committed treason a second time when they fraudulently and unconstitutionally seized the executive branch in November. Never mind the embarrassing charade to declare Joe Biden the official President-elect or the illiterate Republicans’ illogical conclusion that it is their Constitutional duty to accept unconstitutional electors. As I wrote in my book, “No performance, act, or theater…can deceive us into accepting that which is illegitimate as legitimate.” Despite the breach of the Capitol, the Democrat Party still represents the greatest threat to America and our freedom. And most importantly, 75 plus million Americans still remain enraged, disenfranchised, and denigrated by them.
Nor does the sudden, unexpected, and uncharacteristic violent outburst of a “Trump mob” on January 6th supplant the organized, anticipated, routine, and sustained violent outbursts from the militant and well funded Democrat Party mobs of Antifa and BLM, which for months looted and burned innocent Americans’ businesses to the ground, committed acts of rape and murder, and conquered entire city blocks like Goths in Ancient Rome.
While these criminals raped, pillaged, and burned our cities the Democrat Party and their media propagandists defended them. Kamala Harris referred to antifa and BLM as a “movement.” “They’re not gonna let up,” she said. “And they should not.” These same Democrats and propagandists, who defended and supported their violent Antifa and BLM mobs, even as they rioted in the streets, use the January 6th “assault on the citadel of liberty,” to define all Trump supporters as domestic terrorists and call for our cleansing.
The Democrat Party approves of and encourages the violence of their organized mobs without consequence. They incite insurrection at every opportunity—George Floyd, hands up don’t shoot, Jacob Blake, and on and on. Then, once incited, they move quickly and gleefully to use the violent anarchy they’ve sponsored to promote their false narratives of systemic racial injustice and other lies. They cast themselves and their militant thugs as heroes and champions of justice and justify their criminal behavior.
President Trump fairly and consistently condemns rioting and violence from antifa, BLM, and the one-off mob of “Trump supporters” assaulting the capital, and the Democrat Party charges him with inciting an insurrection. They cast Trump and his supporters as villains and a threat to American democracy, despite the truth being just the opposite.
Sadly but predictably, Joe Biden, acting in his official capacity as the “President-elect” for the first time, used the tragedy of January 6th to denounce Trump, irresponsibly propagate dangerous lie after lie that Trump and his supporters are racists, terrorists, and the enemies of Democracy, and to deceive the American people through the dissemination of propaganda aimed at dismissing the truth: that the Democrat Party is the enemy of democracy, that they are an unlawful mob, and that they are guilty of treason and corruption.
But worst of all, the Republican Party surrounds President Trump like the Roman Senators around Julius Caesar on the Ides of March, stabbing him mercilessly one by one. Lindsey Graham, Bill Barr, and the myriad other self serving, gutless, and dishonorable Republicans betray President Trump, his supporters, and the country to maintain and preserve their own highly coveted memberships to the exclusive and unscrupulous DC Swamp.
Ironically I believe the amoral, duplicitous, and extreme reactions from the media, Democrat Party, and turn coat Republicans to the widely and nearly categorically condemned “insurrection” of January 6th will ultimately strengthen the cause of our current Revolution, rather than harm it. Just as King George III’s punitive response to the Boston Tea Party by issue of the Intolerable Acts united the Colonial revolutionaries and hastened the arrival of the American Revolution, so too will the aggressive and zealous persecution of Trump supporters and conservatives demand a future unwanted conflict born from both duty and self defense.
Our Nation would be wise to remember that George Washington condemned the Boston Tea Party, but led the violent revolution against Great Britain. It was the arrogance of King George III and his contempt for his colonial subjects, which precipitated the American Revolution. If the Democrat Party and media propagandists do not reflect on the cause of the infamous Insurrection of January 6th, acknowledge their contribution, own their guilt, and change their course, January 6th will be remembered like the Boston Tea Party is today; not as a foolish and lawless act by a mob, but as an iconic moment lauded by historians as the first courageous stance against corruption and tyranny.
But do you believe the left and the media have the capacity to change? Do they have the willingness? Furthermore do the feckless Republicans have the courage or propriety to fight back, defend America, and uphold our Constitution? I believe that sadly these questions have already been answered in the events we have witnessed in recent days, weeks, and months.
I don’t write these words to promote conflict, but to offer a solemn warning, informed by truth and history, that if the Democrat Party, Republicans, and the media do not fundamentally transform themselves into zealous proponents and defenders of our Constitution and liberty and reverse course, the so-called and condemned Insurrection of January 6th will be remembered by historians as the catalyst of a 21st Century Revolution.
It only took 2 1/2 years for the colonists to move from destroying tea in protest to signing the Declaration of Independence. In 1773 many of our Founding Fathers condemned the mob-like destruction and vandalism of private property but by 1776 they offered full throated support of violent Revolution. America is teetering on the edge of another such conflict. While we patriots have no control over the forthcoming actions of the tyrants in government and in the media, we must remain united, and we must remain loyal to one another.
This so thoroughly and accurately articulates the truth of what’s happening!
