Where Are America's Heroes?
Rep. Mike Gallagher is the Latest Coward to Turn His Back on America
Back in 1776 the nascent United States of America was filled with heroes. That isn’t to say the American Revolution itself and our subsequent formation as a Constitutional Republic wasn’t fraught with danger or absent of conflict—or villains. Benedict Arnold betrayed General Washington and the Nation, Continental army soldiers from Pennsylvania mutinied in 1783, and it took a number of outright miracles for American forces to both win the Revolution and then agree on the Constitution.
Hardship and horrific setbacks aside, the Americans of 1776—those who fought to give birth to the United States of America—undoubtedly succeeded because there was no shortage of men willing to rise to the occasion. Even today we remember the names of those many Americans who risked their lives and status to become heroes—Washington, Adams, Hamilton, Franklin, Revere, Henry, Hancock, Jefferson, and on and on.
These brave men not only understood the stakes in their time—liberty or death—but confronted the opposition head on and demonstrated bravery. Other such brave men and women have likewise answered the call of duty throughout our history. President Lincoln and the Republican Party, for example, saved the Republic from demise when they took on and defeated the Confederacy in 1861.
While I remain optimistic about America’s future—mainly out of a deep love, affection and patriotism for my country that prohibits me from ever giving up or accepting defeat—I must admit that in this critical hour of America’s need I am deeply disappointed and even stunned by both the absence of heroes and the proliferation of cowards.
To be blunt, the crisis we are facing at this very moment in American history is as serious as that faced in 1776 and 1861. “Our present conflict is unprecedented in our own nation’s history and in our own lifetimes and marks the third major test, which will determine whether America survives or dies,” I write in my book America’s Last Stand: Will You Vote to Save or Destroy America in 2024?
Furthermore I explain:
“And so nearly 250 years after our ancestors first rose up to break the abusive chains wrapped around their own necks by the monarchy of Great Britain and banish tyranny from this fertile land, the tyrant has boldly resurfaced and seeks to clap those very chains of slavery around our necks today. We will and must prevail because the reinstitution of tyranny in this great nation isn’t an option. We are Americans and it is our sacred duty to defend this nation from its enemies, both foreign and domestic.”
While former President Trump has indisputably risen to the occasion to become a hero in our time—his ability to stand firm amidst the unprecedented attacks on his own person, family, property and Rights alone is nothing short of legendary—his own strength is almost daily diluted by the show of cowards so eager to abandon their posts.
Representative Mike Gallagher (WI) is the latest Republican to turn his back on his country when his presence is most needed, having announced his sudden resignation from the House.
I won’t speculate about the unknown behind the scenes sabotage of both the Republican Party and America, which is certainly taking place. What was the real impetus for Gallagher’s resignation? He just woke up and couldn’t bear the thought of finishing his term? Or is someone orchestrating a timely Republican forfeiture of their House majority?
In any case, Gallagher joins former speaker Kevin McCarthy (CA), Bill Johnson (OH), and Ken Buck (CO), who have also abandoned their constituents and America by resigning from Congress. None of these men love America and all are traitors. I mean that sincerely.
The Republican majority in the House, however small and even fragmented as it was, remains the only thing standing in the way of the Biden Administration and Democrats completely eviscerating America before the 2024 election. With former Representative George Santos (R-NY) also gone—booted by his own Party—the Republican majority has shrunk so that the G.O.P can only afford a single defection on party line votes when all members are present.
How do these cowards not understand that “the Biden administration and Democratic Party is the greatest threat this nation has faced since our founding; abusive, corrupt, and despotic,” as I explain in America’s Last Stand. “These tyrants are tenfold, even a hundred-fold more corrupt and dangerous than even the monarchy we overthrew in the late eighteenth century.”
Can you imagine the mighty Washington abandoning his post? Or the cunning Lincoln surrendering to the Confederacy? The Republican Party may have been born to confront the Democrats and save America in the 19th century—and did—but today retreats from defending America.
History will record the likes of Gallagher, McCarthy, Johnson, and Buck as the cowards that they are. But let their cowardice inspire courage in those who remain. To those that haven’t resigned or may be preparing to do so, I say:
“It was the Founding Fathers and George Washington who erected this sanctuary of freedom. When they died, their descendants took their place as the new pillars, and their descendants after them to hold it up. Today our Temple is crumbling once more and new pillars must be erected in their stead. We are these pillars and we must fashion ourselves of the mightiest stone; rein- forced with the raw materials of patriotism, conviction, and truth; so that we—like our forefathers—become impervious to our ene- my’s attacks.”
America needs heroes. Will you rise to the occasion and roar like our ancestors or disgrace their sacrifice and memory with a coward’s whimper?
That gives me goosebumps every time!! Our only hope to defeat the traitors is Donald Trump. The ONLY ONE. Give him the support he needs. He loves his country and the people in it!! He even offered to step down from the office of President after the election if we all weren’t pleased with his results. What more do you want from him? “Give me liberty or give me death!!” I bet you can find the brave men and women in the many Veterans that remember what they fought for. No cowards in that bunch!
Most excellent article, sir 👏
